I've been re-reading Anne Rice's 'The Vampire Chronicles' in which Lestat is the main character (indeed he's the narrator of 5 out of the 10 books).
This picture has nothing to do with the movies and does not depict a scene from one of the books. I wanted to draw Lestat in the red brocade pants and silk stockings that are described so exquisitely by the author in _The Vampire Lestat_ (one of his outfits from the late 1700's - the century he was 'made' in).
In the picture, Lestat is seated on a velvet couch, and is being serenaded by a faery who has displaced his canary! My aim was to accurately portray Lestat's sometimes prideful and arrogant personality through his facial expression, and I think that comes through.
