My second 'facial study' portrait of the Vampire Lestat, this one showing a bit more expression than the first. I wanted to have him smile his mischevious little smile that really makes his personality shine. I think his flowing hair and the tilt of his head makes him appear a bit effeminate (by today's standards), but I believe it just displays the type of character he is.
Men from 18th Century France *were* a bit effeminate.. especially when compared to the ultra-macho emotional detachment that today's men are expected to adopt. Anyways, back then certain 'effeminate' behaviours were considered manly. I wanted to try showing some expression with this drawing, and to also practise my shading. Drawn with pencil.
